Meat World

ERF 21721. Vosloorus. Ext 323. Johannesburg. South Africa

Project Type: CommercialInterior

Client: John de Castro
Program: CommercialInterior
Status: Design Development – January 2015
Value: R 5 Million (US $340 000)
Area: 580m²

As the prospective specialist owner of a newly conceived format for the butchery industry, the client sought architectural intervention to logistically configure the interior of the available space dynamically. The proposal required that a dual interface was created providing both a shopping/buying experience but also the opportunity to have the purchased meat braaied at a  designated area within the shop. It was anticipated that this approach would hold a particular appeal for the South African market and its affinity for the traditional braai experience.
