Situated in the upmarket Bryanston suburb, the project entailed the design for 6 cluster-type units. The targeted clientele was those seeking a sophisticated, luxurious lifestyle while maintaining high levels of privacy and security. Responding to the lay0of-the-land, and the client brief, we set out to optimize the suburban tone of Bryanstons’ aesthetic and pragmatic programme of each unit. The housing units are layered and staggered to utilize the distinctly sleep slope of the site, access the southern views and simultaneously ensure uncompromised access to the northern light.
Close collaboration with the appointed engineers in relation to earthworks, ensured viable, considered design options within the challenging site specifications. The inclusion of “green pockets” within each unit were fully developed in order to extend and synthesize the building mass into the garden context, while simultaneously generating a distinctive architectural feature.
