The brief by the Body Corporate of the 1960’s apartment block was for the renewal and modernization of the entrance and reception areas. While maintaining the existing footprint and facade, the internal space was reconfigured to include a reception desk, seating area and community coffee station. These sought to create a welcoming, interactive entry into the block.
Extending the original brief, a further intervention was included to generate a sense of threshold at the entrance point and also to extend its relationship with the street. A graduation of privacy, moving from the public forum of the street to the privacy of the entrance was carefully considered and implemented.
