After acquiring this house from a parent, a newly wed couple wanted to modernise and expand the house, and create a cottage for the parent. A decision was made to convert the existing double garage into a 100m² self-contained two-bedroom cottage. As the cottage is located at the property entrance, issues of privacy were important, as well as natural light and ventilation.
The main house kitchen would be completely replaced and opened up, with an extension scullery added. The main bedroom was extended to include a walk-in-cupboard and en-suite bathroom.
